1. Our classes are taught like a college course. We provide text books, study guides, drive log books. We teach our lessons using the informal lecture technique. Lesson are taught simple to complex and involve a standard lesson format. We give a 20 question written test after each lesson to determine if lesson objectives have been met. Homework is required and outlined in the handout. We will not advance students faster than the student’s ability to learn. Students must pass the classroom final and the in-the-vehicle final with an 80%. Some students do not pass the first time.

2. Ron and Laura Long have been teaching Driver Education to teenagers for 6 years. Our school has two instructors with two cars used exclusively for driver education. This course is a learning process, we do not teach it fast. We teach students to be safe. We teach traffic laws and how to avoid accidents.

3. Students are required 34 hours of classroom. Students must attend 17 two hour classes. The classes are two  days a week for 8 weeks. Students have 16 weeks to complete the entire course. If they go beyond 16 weeks they may be required to take the course again and pay tuition again. Students who do not progress satisfactorily in integrating drives with the classroom may also be required to take the course again. Students may miss only 3 classes and drives in the 8 week instructional period. Students may only attend 2 hours of classroom instruction and 2 hours of make up in a 24 hour period. Students will be required to retake the course if they have excessive absences (more than 3) this includes missed or canceled drives. Some exceptions may be made due to illnesses etc. We do not charge extra for missed classes or failed tests. There are no hidden fees. We do charge $50.00 if a student does not cancel a drive in advance.

3. Students must drive 6 hours and observe another student at least 1 hour. (One hour drives). Most students do not finish all 6 drives in the 8 week program. We will not rush them in the car. If they are not ready for the next drive they will have it noted in their log book and in their folder. There are many students waiting for drives. If a student cancels a drive they may not get scheduled again for several weeks. Drives are progressive. We do not schedule drive 2 until drive 1 is completed satisfactorily. Drives must be completed in a timely manner.

4. Students will be given a log book to record drives with parents. The log book is also used to record student progress on drives with us. It is a great tool for parents to use when working with the student. Parents are encouraged to read the log book after each students drive with the instructor. Students must come to each drive or observation with permit, log book and appropriate footwear. Missed drives cost $50.00.

5. Students will be given a study guide to accompany the text book. The study guide and the log book will become valuable tools to study after the course is completed. Students must practice driving with their parents for five hours between instructional drives.

6. A student gets two attempts to pass the classroom final and two attempts to pass the final in the car. Some students are required to take the class again.

7. A DOL waiver will be issued to students so that they may obtain an instructional permit without taking the written test. Students must be registered in the class. The  will be accepted by DOL ten days prior to the class.
